My family picture in June 2006

As I like to know about my students, I also like them to know about me, since School is everyone's second home.

My name is Nabila Jahchan.

My maiden name is Assaf.

I was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1957 where I grew up and attended a catholic school. I graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry and a Teaching Diploma from the American University of Beirut in 1979.

I fluently speak and write three languages: Arabic (my native language), French and English.

I taught Science/Chemistry in Lebanon for 20 years in a private school called "La Sagesse Brasilia" where I had the best time of my life with my students and colleagues.

I immigrated to California in July 2001 to be with my parents as well as my brother who's been living in La Crescenta for over 2 decades.

I'm currently living in Montrose with my adorable husband Simon and my three children: Carol, Nadine and Mazen.

I'm so proud of my children who have accomplished a lot since we arrived to the U.S.

Carol (born in Oct.1980) graduated in Spring 2004 with a Masters in Clinical Psychology from California State University , Northridge (CSUN) and started her Ph.D. program beginning Fall of 2005 at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD).

Nadine (born in April 1983) graduated in Spring 2005, from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) with a B.S. in Molecular Cell and Developmental Biology, and started her Ph.D. program beginning  Fall of 2005 at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB).

Mazen (born in Oct 1989) is a Freshmen student at Glendale Community College (GCC).He is in the Honor College Program, Trying to always keep a high GPA to be able to transfer to UCLA and major in Business Administration.

I love life! I'm optimistic, outgoing and upbeat, active and dynamic. I strive to build up my knowledge and seek higher education. After clearing my preliminary teaching credentials, I worked hard for 2 years and got an M.A. degree in Science Education from CSUN in June 2006

I've been teaching in Glendale High School since September 2003 and I'm so pleased of being a member of this wonderful community where parents, students, administration and all teachers collaborate to enhance a better education and future for everyone.

In Glendale High School, we are 3 Chemistry teachers working as a team in a strong Science department consisting of 15 great colleagues who are all wonderful and great to work with.

Go to the photo page to share some pictures of my wonderful family and my hardworking students!
